Description
Our fins are made using Polycarbonate with added Fiber Glass (PCFG) for strength.
Polycarbonate is commonly called “Transparent Steel” for its excellent resistance to impacts, light weight and glass-like transparency. It is used to make bulletproof windows and things like the canopy of the F-22 Raptor fighter jet. The weight of our PCFG fin is 25% lighter than fins made from G10 (a glass epoxy composite material).
G10 fins are made by laminating layers of fiberglass together. The screw holes are drilled after the fin is finished so they are intrinsically weak. They get easily damaged by wear and salt water corrosion.
Our PCFG fins are made by high pressure injection molding. The screw holes of our fins are part of the mold and not machined afterwards. PCFG is salt water resistant. The screw holes won’t be damaged through repeated assembly/disassembly of the fins.
When kiteboarding you will likely hit sand, rocks or other abrasive materials. Because G10 fins are made of laminated layers of fiberglass, they will split or sustain some damage when hitting hard objects. On the other hand, our PCFG fins will not split and will resist most blunt hits.
Please check the following video that demonstrates the strength of Polycarbonate material:

Our company makes 1.5, 1.75, 2 and 2.25 inch kiteboard fins. They are available in 2 different colors: clear and orange. Other colors are available upon request for orders of 20 sets or more. Choose the size and color of our fins to match your kiteboard.
Big fins are good for beginners, to stay upwind more easily and to ride waves. Smaller fins are good for riding in flat waters or kiteboarders seeking to increase the sensitivity of the board.
